Quarantine Meals: Healthy Breakfast

Morning to ya! So much of our time during quarantine has been eating. Making sure we’re getting enough sleep, having proper nutrition, maintaining an active lifestyle have also been important in staying healthy is such an uncertain time. Protein and fat are important to keep you feeling full and satisfied throughout the day. Snacking on carbohydrate-based foods may leave you feeling hungry shortly after. Here’s are some quick and easy snack recipes that we enjoy to keep your body in shape during lockdown.

Hard-boiled eggs

Eggs are a low-calorie food rich in protein and other nutrients. Eating eggs may support weight loss, especially if a person incorporates them into a calorie-controlled diet. Research suggests that eggs boost metabolic activity and increase feelings of fullness. At 75 calories and 6 grams of protein, a hard-boiled egg is a perfectly portion-controlled snack. It contains complete protein, which is highly absorbable and has all the amino acids humans need

Avocado Egg Salad topped Ezekiel Toast

Ezekiel bread is as healthy as bread gets. It's a type of sprouted bread, made from a variety of whole grains and legumes that have started germinating (sprouting). Compared to white bread, which is made of refined wheat flour, Ezekiel bread is much richer in healthy nutrients and fiber. Ezekiel sprouted bread is as efficient a source of complete protein as there is. Pair it with egg salad for a tasty protein-packed powerhouse.

Ingredients: 1/4 avocado mashed

1 large hardboiled egg (chopped)

How to prepare: Mix together avocado and egg with a dash of salt and pepper to taste on top of a slice of toasted ezekiel bread

It's easy to make hummus at home with just a few pantry items. Serve drizzled with your best-quality extra-virgin olive oil and chopped parsley. Mop it up with warm whole-wheat pita bread or cut-up vegetables.

Blueberry Muffins

Add something sweet to breakfast while still watching those carbs. In place of all-purpose flour, nutty almond and coconut flours make these muffins fluffy while slashing carbs. A bit of brown sugar blunts the tartness of fresh blueberries. Make these ahead for a grab-and-go breakfast for the week.

Strawberry-Kiwi Cheesecake Toast

In a rush? It takes just 5 minutes to toss together this cheerful strawberry-kiwi toast. It’s vital to get in tons of fruits and vegetables. Pairing it up with some yogurt and toast makes for an awesome snack. Yogurt contains almost every nutrient that your body needs. It's known for containing a lot of calcium, a mineral necessary for healthy teeth and bones. Just one cup provides 49% of your daily calcium needs.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Strawberry Banana

My day usually begins with making an awesome smoothie to get in some energy that I’ve lost breastfeeding at night. Smoothies can be extraordinarily healthy and energizing. The vitamin C content in a serving of strawberry banana smoothie is excellent, thanks to the strawberries — each 12 ounce serving of smoothie contains up to 70 percent of the recommended daily intake. A strawberry banana smoothie also boosts your calcium consumption; a 12-ounce portion of smoothie provides 8 to 10 percent of the calcium you need daily.
